WHAT CAN BOTOX & DYSPORT DO FOR YOU?
Botox & Dysport are FDA-approved, safe and effective neuromodulators used to relax muscles responsible for creating dynamic wrinkles. Treatments are non-surgical, and can be tailored to each individual's needs.
-
Under our skin lays a layer of muscle, and within those muscles are nerve bundles. Botox, or Dysport, is injected carefully to temporarily block the nerve bundles from firing, thus blocking the muscle’s ability to contract resulting in a reduced appearance of present wrinkles, and the ability for them to continue to form deeper.
-
Specifically, in the underarms, Botox and Dysport help to block the release of acetylcholine which is the neurotransmitter responsible for sweating.
-
When placed in specific areas of the face such as the masseters and platysmal bands, Botox or Dysport can help define the jawline and lower face region. It can also be placed in the upper lip region to help relax the lip when smiling giving the illusion of a fuller upper lip without the increased volume you achieve with fillers.
These neuromodulators can be strategically injected into multiple areas of the face to smooth out wrinkles, lift brows, and relax overactive muscles that contribute to forming lines and wrinkles.
WHERE CAN IT BE INJECTED?
-
What it does: Botox/Dysport can smooth out horizontal lines that form across the forehead, which are often caused by raising the eyebrows. By relaxing the frontalis muscle, these lines become less prominent, giving the forehead a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Effect: Reduces the appearance of deep forehead lines, creating a smoother, more relaxed look.
-
A Lip Flip is a non-invasive treatment that gives the appearance of a fuller upper lip without the need for lip fillers.
The treatment involves a series of injections that relax the muscles around the lips, resulting in a subtle "flip" of the upper lip. However, this treatment only gives the illusion of a fuller lip, and does not change the actual volume of the lip.
-
What it does: The lines between the eyebrows, often called "frown lines" or "11s," are caused by repeated furrowing of the brows. Botox/Dysport can be injected into the corrugator and procerus muscles to relax them, which softens the frown lines.
Effect: Smooths out the vertical lines between the eyebrows, preventing the "angry" or "worried" look.
-
What it does: Botox/Dysport can be injected around the outer corners of the eyes to treat crow's feet, which are fine lines or wrinkles that appear when you smile or squint. Relaxing the orbicularis oculi muscle reduces these wrinkles.
Effect: Softens or eliminates the fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes, giving a more refreshed and youthful appearance.
-
What it does: These are the fine lines that appear on the bridge of the nose when you scrunch it. Botox/Dysport can be injected into the nasalis muscle to prevent or reduce these lines.
Effect: Smooths out the bunny lines, resulting in a more relaxed and youthful appearance of the nose area.
-
What it does: Botox/Dysport can be used to soften the vertical lines that form around the lips, typically caused by repetitive muscle movements like smoking, sipping through straws, or pursing the lips. Injecting small amounts around the lip area can relax these muscles.
Effect: Reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles above the upper lip, creating a smoother lip contour.
-
What it does: These are the lines that run from the corners of the mouth down to the chin, often contributing to a sad or aging look. Botox/Dysport can be used to relax the depressor anguli oris muscle, which helps lift the corners of the mouth.
Effect: Softens marionette lines and may help improve the overall contour of the lower face, creating a more uplifted expression.
-
What it does: Botox/Dysport can be injected into the mentalis muscle, which is responsible for creating the "orange peel" or dimpling effect on the chin. Relaxing this muscle smooths out the chin area.
Effect: Reduces the appearance of chin dimpling, resulting in a smoother chin with a more refined appearance.
-
What it does: Botox/Dysport can be injected into the masseter muscles (the muscles used for chewing) to reduce their size and create a more contoured jawline. This is especially popular for people who have a square or bulky jaw due to an overactive masseter muscle.
Effect: Reduces the prominence of the jawline, giving a more oval or V-shaped appearance to the lower face.
-
What it does: Botox/Dysport can be strategically injected into certain areas of the forehead or around the brows to lift the eyebrows. This technique, sometimes referred to as a "non-surgical brow lift," works by relaxing the muscles that pull the brow down and allowing the muscles that elevate the brow to work more effectively.
Effect: Lifts and reshapes the eyebrows, providing a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Botox & Dysport appointments typically only last 30 minutes, with half our time spent discussing your needs, and half our time injecting.
-
Your treatment begins with a consultation. We’ll discuss your concerns and overall goals, then I will walk you through the treatment areas and map out where the Botox or Dysport will be injected.
-
Skin is cleansed and small doses, or units, are artfully injected into the treatment areas, based on your consultation and aesthetic goals. This only takes about 15 minutes!
-
An arnica cream is applied to help reduce inflammation at the injection sites. Small, raised bumps on the sites will be present at the end of treatment, but they will subside within 30 minutes after injection. I will then provide you after-care instructions and answer any questions, and you are on your way!
